At Carrum Beach Tennis Club, we're both proud and grateful to have our coaching set up led by Australian legend Dianne Balestrat (formerly Fromholtz).
Recently inducted into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame, Dianne is a former world number four and Grand Slam champion.
Dianne burst onto the scene as part of the 1974 Fed Cup (now known as the Billie Jean Cup), helping Australia secure their last triumph in the international women's top team event.
Partnering with Helen Gourlay Cawley, she won the Australian Open women's doubles title in 1977, when she also reached the singles final, claiming 14 titles on the WTA Tour.
Regularly beating the very best during a golden generation of women's tennis, Dianne recorded 3 wins over Chris Evert and 4 over Martina Navratilova while boasting a winning head-to-head against Billie Jean King (8-6 record).
A car accident in 1981 derailed Dianne's career in her prime, although she later returned to the Tour and went on to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals and then win the Australian Open Mixed Doubles Legends’ event with Geoff Masters in 2004.
Along with her husband Claude, Dianne now runs TennisXcel, which operates exclusively out of Carrum Beach Tennis Club.
