Active Member Rebates 2021

Ainslie Tennis Club

Active Members Rebate Policy and Criteria

From 1 January 2021, the Ainslie Tennis Club will introduce Active Member Rebates (AMR) to recognize the contributions that many members make to the successful operation of the Ainslie community tennis club.

Most members are content to pay their annual membership fee and then use the courts and the clubhouse as and when it suits them and courts are available.  However, in order to be able to use these facilities there are many things that need to be done in the background including actively participating in the Club’s working bees, joining in fund-raising activities, organising club tennis competitions, maintaining the clubhouse and courts, etc.

Accordingly, the Committee has decided that with membership fees substantially increasing for 2021, individual members who have been or commence being active will be offered the opportunity to seek an AMR of $60, $30 or $15 depending on their membership category.

To receive a rebate during 2021 or 2022, members must:

  1. Be financial and advised the Club’s Revenue Manager that you would like to receive the Rebate; and
  2. Have met or meet at least one of the Active Member Criteria during either 2020 or 2021.
  3. In the case of having met the criteria during 2021, a rebate will be paid after the criteria is met.
  4. In order to be classified as an Active Member, individuals will need to have been active for at least five hours over the course of the year on one or more approved Club activities (e.g. you might volunteer for a weekly task that takes 10 minutes each week or you might opt to clear court 3 of all its weeds in one long working session).
  5. In the case of family members, one eligible active member will be offered a single rebate, while two or more eligible active members in the same family will be offered a family rebate.
  6. Members eligible for an AMR will receive notification from the Committee and be offered the option of receiving a Rebate or having an equivalent amount donated to the Club’s Infrastructure Improvement Sinking Fund. Members may also opt to receive the Rebate and then donate it back to the Club through the Australian Sports Fund which would be a Tax Deductible donation.

Active Member Criteria:

  1. Be an active participant of an Ainslie Tennis Club 2020 and/or 2021 organised working bee; and/or
  2. Be an active participant in a fund-raising activity or a Club competition organising committee; and/or
  3. Join the Club’s 2021 Maintenance Group and meet at least one scheduled maintenance goal per annum; and/or
  4. Be an active contributor to the development and maintenance of the Club’s new Community Garden.

2021 Maintenance Group

Taking into account the old saying ‘Many hands Make Light Work’ and to hopefully both reduce the need for organised Working Bees and to share the responsibility associated with tasks such as cleaning the toilets (currently undertaken by the Racqueteers), the Club is creating a Maintenance Group.  The aim of the Group will be to encourage members to sign up and commit to being rostered on to perform one of the following activities on at least one occasion over 2021:

  1. Weeding all three courts, either through pulling and/or spraying. (Once every month in Spring, then once in each of the months of December, March and June).
  2. Removing rubbish, sand, leaves, etc from all three courts including clearing the concrete drains at the northern end of each court. (Once in the months of March, June, September and December).
  3. Weeding and cleaning the open space around all four sides the clubhouse, including sweeping concrete surfaces to remove debris and sand. (Once every month in Spring, then once in each of the months of December, March and June).
  4. Trimming the bushes growing beside the fence to stop them growing too high or growing through the fence. (Twice yearly).
  5. Mow the grass between the carpark and the fence on Paterson St and in the corner bounded by the clubhouse and court 3 fences. (Spring and summer – fortnightly. Autumn and winter as needed, probably monthly).
  6. Sweep/vacuum the clubhouse floor, remove cobwebs from windows and fittings, plus clean the kitchen bench & sink, the tables and chairs and the bathroom and toilet. (Weekly).
  7. Change bathroom and tea towels and wash and return dirty towels. (Weekly).
  8. Check and clean the fridge as necessary.  Check and wash/dry as necessary cups, glasses, plates, cutlery, etc. and repack cupboards/drawers. (Monthly).

If the Club can establish a roster whereby members sign on to complete one or more of these items over 2021, it should ensure that Ainslie remains a great venue at which to play tennis and hold social events.

The 2021 Maintenance Group will be managed by the Club’s Asset Manager, Mary Ryan. The Asset Manager will call for nominations and will develop a roster whereby each volunteer or group of volunteers will have a designated period during which they will be asked to complete their preferred activity.  If more requests than periods are available for the same activity, they will be allocated on a first come basis and the additional requesters will be offered the opportunity to take on one of the other activities.  Members that are already volunteering their time will automatically be added to the roster and Mary will confirm this with those members.
