Yalla-Y-Poora upset Mininera and rise to top position
ACCURACY: Simon Barr's pinpoint volleys helped his side to victory.
Yalla-Y-Poora upset Mininera to go to the top of the ladder after round nine of the Mininera District Tennis Association on Saturday.
Mininera managed four sets and 77 games to Yalla-Y-Poora’s eight sets and 86 games.
Heather Phillips continued her solid start to the year winning all three of her sets at the weekend.
Simon Barr’s accurate volleys for Yalla-Y-Poora helped him to win his two sets, but was unable to carry ageing teammate Nick Bush across the line as the father and son duo of Al and Harry Wills defeated Barr and Bush 8-5 in a close match.
Another result saw Tatyoon forfeit against Skipton due to being unable to field a team.
With the Association going into recess for the Christmas break the ladder saw Mininera sit second on 26 points, 61 sets and 565 games, Skipton on 26 points, 53 sets and 400 games, Willaura with16 points, 35 sets and 343 game and Tatyoon on 12 points, 23 sets and 336 games.
