Book a Court - FAQ

The Williams Landing Tennis Club (WLTC) will be commencing the use of the “Book a Court” system. Below are a series of Frequently Asked Questions to assist members with the transition to Book a Court.

What is Book a Court?

Book a Court is an online court booking and payment platform, that allows players to reserve a court for play online.  Your online booking connects with pin pad technology to the club’s gates.

Book a Court is becoming widely used by tennis clubs around Australia.

Please note, that the Book a Court system has been installed to all six courts located at Williams Landing. The Club still retains exclusive use and access to courts 1-4. Courts 5 and 6 will continue to be accessible and free of charge to the public, but will need to be booked. Unless otherwise stated, this document relates to courts 1-4 only.

Can I contact the club to make a booking?

All bookings are to be conducted on-line. The club is run by volunteers so committee members do not have the ability to make bookings on your behalf.

What will happen to the existing booking app?

The current booking app will be decommissioned. This was designed to be a temporary platform until Book a Court became live.

How do I book a court?

Book a court can be done through the Williams Landing Tennis Club website: https://play.tennis.com.au/williamslandingtennisclub

  1. Pick a date, time and duration you wish to play in the above drop down menus and click CHECK AVAILABILITY. If a court is available, details will be shown. Click BOOK NOW.
Alternatively, click VIEW SCHEDULE to choose a date/time/court to play.
  2. You will be asked to sign into the Book A Court website to complete your booking.
If you do not already have an account, create one.
  3. You will be asked to confirm your booking and pay if required.
  4. Once booked, you will receive an email and/or SMS with your gate access PIN. This will be a 4 digit number. Please be aware if takes up to 15 minutes for this PIN to be registered at the gate.
  5. Once at the tennis club, enter your PIN followed by the ENTER symbol at the keypad. The gate will unlock and turn green. Close the gate behind you.
  6. Once done, leave through the gate and ensure it is closed behind you.

I booked a court but the pin will not work?

It is likely that you have booked and tried to access the courts all within 15 minutes. You need to allow at least 15 minutes from the time of booking to the time you attempt access. This is due to the technology synchronising and is beyond the control of WLTC.

I booked a court at night, how do I turn on the lights?

The lights are linked to your booking. The lights will turn on automatically and will remain on until 15 minutes after your session has completed.

I booked a court, do I get access to the pavilion and change rooms.

No. Court bookings only provide access to the tennis courts, not the clubrooms. Kitchen and toilet facilities are not available for use with court bookings.

Must I book a court to play?

Yes, as access to the courts will be via pin code. The previous code and key entry method will no longer be available.

Is there a charge for making a booking?

This will depend on the time of day you play.

  • If you play during the day, there will be no charge
  • If you play in the evening using the lights, the cost is $5 per every half hour

Can non members book a club court?

No – non members cannot book courts 1-4. Non members can book the public courts (courts 5 and 6)

I am a member of WLTC, why will I be charged for light use?

The lights are an expense to the club. Our charges for lights usage are competitive when compared to other clubs in the region.

I am a member and have played under lights before and have not had to pay, why do I now need to pay?

Until December 2019, the Wyndham City Council paid for the electricity to the site. From January 2020 the WLTC took over responsibility, which means we now pay the electricity bill. Before December 2019, we still wanted members to be able to play under lights and enjoy the facilities, however the WLTC also did not want to abuse the trust of Wyndham City Council, so a decision was made to make the lights available on certain nights (eg Wednesday) to members.

I am not a member of WLTC, is it better for me to book the free public courts for individual sessions rather than become a member of the club?

If you play regularly, it is likely to be more beneficial to purchase a membership. The two free public courts are in high demand. Also, these courts are not flood lit so can not be used in the evening. As a member, you receive additional benefits such as the ability to represent the club in competitions, discounted coaching, participation in social events and being a member of a community organisation. Your membership fee also assists the club in continuing to being able to maintain our facility.

I want to book a court but it says unavailable, why is this?

This could be for a number of reasons, but the most likely reasons are due to one or more of the below:

  • Courts have been pre-booked for use by coaches
  • Courts are allocated for external competitions (for example Tuesday nights Western Suburbs Night Tennis Group)
  • Courts have been allocated for a special or recurrent event (for example: Open Court Sessions, Open day, club competitions, school visits)
  • Courts have been booked by members and it is peak time (eg between 6:00pm to 8:00pm)

How can I guarantee a court?

Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee a court, however consider the following to give yourself the best possibility of reserving a court:

  • try to book as far in advance if possible (more than 24 hours before play)
  • consider alternate playing times if possible, for example earlier in the day.

Is there a curfew?

Yes. Play will not be possible before 7:00 am and after 10:00pm. This is because the WLTC is located in a residential zone and it is important to respect our neighbours.
