Return to play - October 2020

Council have approved our return to play. Members can return to play from 22 October 2020.

These return to play guidelines are designed to ensure the Club and all its members are able to play tennis, while adhering to current Federal and State COVID-19 restrictions. Tennis has an important role to play in helping people be active in this phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, as long as Government restrictions are adhered to and public health and safety is considered a top priority.

These guidelines are applicable to all committee members, players, coaches and students of the Williams Landing Tennis Club. These guidelines have been developed in consultation with Tennis Victoria and must be adhered to. Any failure to adhere to these guidelines may impact on the reputation and financial position of the club and may result in termination of membership. In an extreme event, the club may be forced to suspend all access to all users. As such, everyone has a role to play.

Requirements to be adhered to:

Prior to play:

You must stay at home if any of the following apply to you:

  • you have been diagnosed as currently having COVID-19
  • you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • you have undertaken a COVID-19 test but are yet to receive the results
  • you have mild flu like symptoms
  • you are feeling unwell

If you are in a high risk health category, you are discouraged from playing. For information on high risk categories, please see the link below:

Bookings:

  • The number of people permitted at the facility is 10. To ensure that this cap is not breached, the club has made the decision to restrict play to singles only (refer to further details in criteria for permissible play).
  • All members wishing to book a court, are now also required to complete a separate electronic participant register sheet. This participant register sheet is required to list the name and phone number of all participants who will be playing as part of your booking. This participant register sheet will be cross checked against the bookings in Book a Court. In the event that a booking in Book a Court is made but the participant register sheet is not completed, your booking will be cancelled.

Criteria for permissible play

  • Only singles play is permitted. This is permitted with someone from both within and outside your household
  • For the avoidance of doubt, doubles play is not permitted. While government guidelines and Tennis Victoria guidelines may state otherwise, unfortunately the club has had to take a position that is over and above Tennis Vic and government guidelines that doubles play shall not be permitted so as to ensure the maximum number of 10 people at the facility can be maintained at all times and so as to allow as many courts as possible to be available to members.
  • Social distancing of 1.5 meters must be adhered to at all times. This includes when entering and leaving the venue and when inside the venue (for example when unpacking or packing bags or change of ends)
  • No sharing of equipment
  • Tennis lessons are permitted with a limit of two participants, plus one instructor. For the voidance of doubt, the only coaching permitted onsite is to be conducted by the club coach (Anna Gorski, Smash Tennis). Where coaching is occurring, you must wear your face mask when not participating in activities or drills (for example a face mask must be work when standing and listening to instructions).
  • Only people playing or being coached can be at the club. Spectators are not permitted. Parents/guardians waiting to pick up their children must wait in their vehicles
  • Use the hand sanitiser provided upon entry and exiting the venue
  • Everyone must arrive and leave as close as possible to when they need to be at the venue
  • Access to the club changerooms and pavilion is not permitted. Participants needing to use the toilets will be directed to use the public toilets, which are located near the cricket nets
