Passing of Anne Marion Cribbes
1943 - 2021
It is with deep regret the Board of Directors advised the passing of Anne Marion Cribbes on
Thursday 19 August 2021.
Anne was the professional tennis coach at the club for over 35 years. Anne was dedicated to
her students, both with the school children and adults and loved the cardio tennis.
She organised 4 school holiday camps a year with the assistance of Kevin Brady and over the
last few years with Mark Tregeagle.
Mark took over the coaching in 2020 with the assistance of Anne right to April this year.
Many of the coaching children over the years lived in Rose Street which boarded the courts.
Anne taught the parents and children of residents of the street and they were very close to
Anne.
Recently, grandchildren of those parents are now students.
Anne played badge for the club and helped with social days held by the club and Seniors Day
organised by Ashfield Council and Inner West Council.
Anne will be sadly missed due to the professional manner she approached her coaching
bringing out the best possible ability in each student.
Ashfield Council/Inner West Council Clrs Lucille McKenna OAM and Mark Drury were
supporters of Anne and the work she was providing for children to give them the skills to
play competition tennis, along with social skills.
The club President Paul Lyons played badge with Anne prior to coming to Ashfield.
Our Treasurer Noelene Leggatt and her husband and our former Director the late Jimmy
Leggatt played with Anne before coming to the club.
So there has been a long association.
Paul advised the club will be organising a memorial service at the end of the lockdown in the
clubhouse with the assistance of the Rose Street parents to celebrate the life of Anne.
