QUEENSLAND JUNIOR TEAMS CARNIVAL
For a 2nd year WTC Junior Indy was a member of the South Australian Regional team competing in the Queensland Junior Teams Carnival, which saw 16 teams in the 12u’s playing at the impressive KDV sports venue.
In its 36th year, the 5 days of tennis saw 337 players, in 4 age groups in 58 teams from across Australia and Japan.
The teams event consists of singles, doubles and mixed doubles. What a difference a year makes, a year older and stronger with more experience saw Indy win all of her singles matches and 2/5 of her doubles.
The Individual event saw Indy come up against a strong and consistent Japanese opponent who made very few errors going down 3-6, 3-6 under lights. This put her into the consolation which saw her win her next match 4-0, 4-1, but the rain had other plans and the consolation games were abandoned.
Across the 5 days they had it all- including many rain delays including a 12+ hour day on day 2, beaming QLD sunshine, high humidity, wind, abandoned matches due to the rain and playing under lights!
Such an amazing experience-Indy gained valuable experience learning lots along the way about her tennis and herself and in true Indy style showing great sportsmanship on and off the court. She was lucky enough to play alongside friends and to make new friends, play against and alongside some incredible Jnr tennis players and have 2 other Riverland Jnrs in her 12u team in Will from Berri TC and Ashton from Loxton TC.
Well done Indy on a great few days of tennis in Queensland and for your efforts in training in the lead up under the guidance of coaches John Pick and Shane Nettle the WTC is very proud of your efforts.
Thanks also to Tennis SA and Kara and JT for Team managing the 12u team.
