COVID-19 - TTA's Response

Dear Members,

Effective immediately Tennis Australia and its Member Associations are postponing all Tennis operated events, competitions and tournaments until further notice. The goal is to avoid bringing crowds together in order to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and minimise the inevitable strain on our healthcare system. From a Toowoomba Tennis perspective, this includes any Junior Tournaments and the Easter Gold Cup.

This decision is based on expert medical advice and is in line with the recommendations of the global tennis community.

The committee of the Toowoomba Tennis Association has met today and, given the current information that is available, have agreed with the decision by Tennis Australia and therefore have suspend any organised competition at the centre until further notice. The decision was not an easy one to make but we believe these precautions are in the interest of the health and wellbeing of our community.

The suspension includes all junior (1 round and finals), senior (3 rounds) and veterans’ (1 round) fixtures. The committee will meet again on the 14th April (prior to the start of fixtures following the Easter break) to discuss and decide on the re-commencement date of all fixtures utilising the up-to-date information at that time.

The centre will continue to be open for social play from 8.00am until 6.00pm each day but access to the Pro Shop will be limited. Please contact Ross in the Pro Shop (4639 1874) or by mobile (0407 637 389) if you require court hire outside of these hours and he will do his best to accommodate your requests.

We realise this may cause inconvenience in the short-term however, our objective is ensuring our community remains healthy and strong.

Regards,

Allen Smythe
