Mike Stidwell Medal

Thank You to all our members who volunteer their time every season. Thanks for everything you do, baking, busy bees, umpiring, supporting our open tournaments and special events, sponsoring and coming along to tennis whenever you do with a smile on your face :)

This National Volunteers Week we celebrate all the wonderful volunteers who give their time and energy to make CHANGE in our communities💫

Volunteering has the power to change the lives of both volunteers and those they help. It offers opportunities for social, economic, and cultural inclusion, and improves our health and wellbeing

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is “The Change Makers” highlighting the powerful impact volunteers make supporting individuals, communities and the nation.

In the words of our Vice Captain and LGSTA Junior Coordinator Alexandra–

“I volunteer because I want to give back to the community that has given me so much over the years and help lay the foundations for future generations to thrive. I also think it is important to role model this for our kids so they can do the same when their time comes.”💫

Mike Stidwell Medal

Congratulations to Les Bairstow of Merrifield Park Tennis Club and also our Lower Great Southern Tennis Association President of many years— winner of the prestigious 2023 Mike Stidwell Medal for outstanding service to the community in the area of volunteer administration. Well deserved Les! Les has been a tennis volunteer for 41 years and worked tirelessly for the Albany Tennis development project.

Thank you to our President Chris and Jenny Cristinelli from the Shire of Cranbrook for nominating me for the Mike Stidwell medal. It is a great honour to be considered and awarded a "Certificate of Appreciation" for my work as Secretary of our wonderful club. It was a special moment to stand alongside my good friend Robyn who was also nominated (by Jenny) for her work with the Albany Netball Association. Well done, you have been busy Jen.....thank you!

It was a great night, well done to everyone involved especially Mel Eastough at DLGSCI.
