Coaching and officiating
Enrolments close on 12 May for the Trainee Coaching Course + Cardio Tennis and Hot Shots Tennis Blue Stage Program workshops
For those seeking in-person training, Tennis Australia’s Trainee Coaching Course will be run over 2 days on the weekend of 31 May – 1 June 2025 at the Darwin International Tennis Centre. If you have done the Participation Coaching course, have worked as an Assistant Coach, or want to brush on your coaching skills, this is a great course for you. Tennis Australia are also running a Cardio Tennis and Hot Shots Tennis Blue Stage Program on 30 May 2025 10:30am - 1:30pm. Two world class workshops in one day! David Grainger will present on both ‘Building your Hot Shots Tennis Blue Stage Program’ and ‘Level Up with Cardio Tennis: Attract, Retain, and Grow Your Adult Business!’ — Register here for these workshops.

Talent
We are delighted to announce our new Talent and Coach Manager Martin Rocca Coco.
Martin is Argentinian and has coached in Buenos Aires, New York, Barcelona, and for the last 5 years has been a Coach Education Specialist for Tennis Australia based in Melbourne. Martin delivered the Trainee Coaching Course in Darwin last May 2024 and is looking forward to working with all of us in the NT to develop coaches and local talent.
He has a passion for tennis that has driven him to start TennisAid, a project which promotes tennis and provides equipment to disadvantaged areas around the world.

Martin is moving to the NT and will start just before the Katherine Open. He is looking forward to coming to the Katherine Open for the May Day long weekend and seeing the NT tennis community in action.
Talent squad invites any *new* invites are being communicated. Martin will commence delivering the program from Wednesday 30th May.
We would like to thank all of our local coaches who planned and delivered the Term 1 Talent program across squads and Super 10s. A special thanks to Ben McLachlan for his ongoing involvement in squads and Talent planning and selection, delivering the Zone Squads early Wednesday mornings, and stepping in so heavily with advice and planning since Jess left. Further thanks to Emily Ooms-Webb who has delivered the National Development Squad, Super 10s, and been integral in planning.

Child Safety
Whether you are a coach, committee member, parent or volunteer, child safety is everyone’s responsibility. Are you aware of the child safety resources available? Factsheets, checklist and posters are available at the link below. The posters are an excellent initiative and a great way to make anyone that walks into your club aware of the importance of child safety.

Below is a summary of our planned communications over the coming weeks.
Please note that we are yet to schedule any club forums/calls for 2025 as we still need input from club presidents / head coaches / operators regarding your preferred frequency and day / time for these sessions. Please reach out asap to Tania or Ben to advise your preferences.
- Annual Club Planning sessions - Ben will reach out to confirm a time for this session in the next couple of weeks.
- Regular Club Check-ins - Club check-ins will commence following our Annual Club Planning sessions.
- Club updates newsletter - this newsletter will be produced at least monthly and contain time-based outgoing information for you to review and share relevant items with your club members
- Club Resource website - we will continue to build out the resources available for you on this website
- Club forums - we would like to plan our online club forums to allow us to have open discussions about relevant topics as chosen by our clubs.
Learn about Pickleball and POP Tennis
Free online courses
There are now online short courses available for Pickleball and POP Tennis through the Bounce online learning platform. These courses provide an introduction to the format, demonstrating how it’s played, and the rules. It will also introduce you to strategies for coaching and integrating a new sport into your business model.

- TEMS has continued running Beach Tennis sessions on Tuesdays at 630pm – it’s a new fun way to play, come and have a go!
