Newcombe Medal Finalists
In case you missed it, the Northern Territory tennis community had two highly coveted finalist nominations at the 2025 Tennis Australia Newcombe Medal Awards! A massive congratulations goes out to the 2025 Katherine Open and NT’s dedicated official, Jenny Roe. Whilst neither were the eventual winner of the award in their respective category, top 3 in the whole of Australia is something to be very proud of. Well done Katherine Tennis Club and Jenny!

One Point Slam
Thank you all for running a One Point Slam event at your club over the past month. It was a very quick turnaround, but you all rallied and got it done. Your efforts have led to us now having an NT representative at the one-point slam final, to be played in Melbourne on Wednesday January 14th.
Congratulations to Thomas Van Haaren from Alice Springs Tennis Association for winning the NT one point slam final. He has won $5000 for Alice Springs Tennis Association courtesy of Tennis Australia and now gets to play against professionals and amateurs in Melbourne in the National final come January!

Child Safety
Signage
We have ordered child safety signage on your behalf to put up at your clubs. We are expecting this to be printed in January and will deliver them to you once received.
Child Safety Register
It is a requirement for all coaches, volunteers, committee and staff members at Tennis clubs to hold an up-to-date Ochre Card. Coaches also require a police check.
As discussed, we have put together a simple child safety register to fill out on behalf of your club so you can keep up to date.
If you haven’t completed this, please take some time over the break and send back to Tennis NT the time your programs return – by Tuesday 27th of January. It is crucial that we do our due diligence in this space and stay on top of our child safety requirements.

NT Tournaments Calendar
Sam, Grace and Emily have been putting a lot of work into the NT tournaments calendar, which is now live: Facebook
This should give you all plenty of time to plan for tournaments in 2026.
NT Clubs Open Day
At the recent club’s call, there was a discussion to hold an open day on the same day across all clubs to kickstart the 2026 year of Tennis in the NT. Date discussed was Saturday 7th of February; please confirm if you would be keen on running an open day at your club on that date. We will assist with marketing to promote all events across the NT.
Altogether catch ups
We currently catch up together once a year during AGM/Awards night (typically October/November). There was discussion at the clubs call around catching up together face to face early or mid-year, as well as during AGM/awards. We are open to thoughts on those that couldn’t attend the clubs call.
We think this would be a great opportunity to get our industry leaders together. We understand that it would be a time investment on everyone's part but with enough notice, is this something that you would be able to make time for?
Clubspark Training
We are planning to run clubspark training for each of you, if you can email topics of interest for you we can start working towards some dates and maximising the platform in 2026.
Office Closure Dates
The Tennis NT Office will close between Friday 19th December – Monday 5th of January. If you needed anything urgent over the holiday period, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via text. I am always contactable on 0406 376 501.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to every one of you. The year has presented both ups and downs, but the way you al continue to show up to grow and develop Tennis despite leading busy lives is something we really appreciate. We can’t wait for another big year in 2026 and hope you feel much the same too.
