Another great tournament period here in the Alice done and dusted. Two back to back National points events tournaments bringing players from all over, We had players from Hobart, Port Lincoln, Adelaide, Geraldton, Tarcoola, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Palmerston and even JAPAN!
The tournaments ran for eight days across the first week of the school holidays
Alice Springs Tennis Club hosted its biggest tournaments in Thirteens years. Having more than 300 entries over the two events.
With so many people always around the tennis courts there was such a great atmosphere.
When the competition matches were finishing up for the day, we had two special events planned. The family doubles and the Mixed doubles event. Both events having record numbers in each event.
In our first Tournament the Pump and Power Open we had Jude Karples(ASP) win the 10/u boys singles final, Patrick Findlay took out the 16/u Boys final, 16/u boys singles was won by Willam Keelartand Ethan Bowhay, Jeremy Slee won the Open Mens singles, Thomas Van Haaren and Patrick Findlay won the Open Mens Doubles.
In our second tournament the Scope Building Classic we had, Sebastian Gardner winning the 10/u Boys singles, Patrick Findlaygoing back to back and winning the 16/u boys final, Keely Bishop took out the 16/u Girls final.
The Alice Springs Tennis Club would like to thank the two major sponsors of the tournaments, Pump and power and Scope Building. Without these Major Sponsors it would be extremely difficult to make these events happen.
A big thank you to the volunteers that helped in Karen`s kitchen and massive thanks to Karen Brown and Jenny Ashenden for being in the kitchen for the full eight days and also to the referees for also volunteering over the two events.
