Hi Everyone,
We thought we should share some happenings with the larger audience of the club to allow for some feedback and questions, if there are any.
The club has recently, applied for and, received a grant from Orica (which the club has to match) allowing us to replace the wooden flooring at the front part of the club. Due to its age its has become unsafe and needs to be fixed. We are waiting for council approval for the project and will hopefully organise a working bee to pull up the old boards which will allow us to save some money. This will also remove the table along the front of the clubhouse since that too is suffering from the ravages of time.
We have a new sponsor and will be shortly putting up a new sign on the fence recognising this. Tom contacted a representation from the Mutual Bank and they have agreed to financially support the club each year.
Tennis numbers are down a bit at the moment mainly because a number of regulars are away but Pickle Ball numbers are continuing to grow with new people trying out the sport.
Socially, Kylie, with the help of some other club members purchased some folding chairs and tables for use at functions and tennis. Unfortunately, Jesmond Bowling club entered liquidation but this allowed us to get this furniture at bargain prices. Thanks to all those who assisted in transporting the furniture to the club. The next event at the club will be a "Seeing out the Summer" event starting at midday on Saturday 29th March. There will be a BBQ, Tennis, Pickle ball and lawn games with a covering cost of $10. All members are welcome.
Thankfully, we have some active members who continue to assist in keeping the club fixed and functioning addressing such jobs as fixing lawn sprinklers, mowing lawns, edging and general gardening. You know who you are and everyone appreciates your efforts. Thank you.
If anyone has any feedback on anything in this news article - please provide it to a member of the committee.
Thanks
