SLTC COVID-19 Vaccination Statement

Dear Tennis Players,

RE: VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT COVID-19 VACCINE MANDATE ENFORCEMENT

We hope you have all been staying safe during these difficult times within our community. It has been a challenge for individuals, businesses, and sporting clubs alike. Thankfully, as vaccination rates increase, our pathway back to social interaction is becoming clearer. You will be aware that the Victorian Government has provided a Roadmap for easing of restrictions. The Roadmap identifies the following easing of restrictions around competitive sport:

70% of 16+ fully vaccinated (from 11:59pm Thursday 21st October):

  • Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 and 30 cap, outdoors DQ2 and 100 cap
  • Community sport: outdoor only, training only.

80% of 16+ fully vaccinated (unconfirmed date, expected sometime around 1st November):

  • Fully vaccinated: Indoors DQ4 (30 cap for our clubhouse), outdoors DQ2 and 500 cap
  • Community sport permitted indoors and outdoors with minimum number required

Per the Roadmap, competitive tennis is allowed to return in the following circumstances:

  • 80% of 16+ fully vaccinated
  • For fully vaccinated participants only.

The decision regarding mandating vaccination for participation in tennis has been made by the Victorian Government, and consequently the SLTC has an obligation to follow Victorian Government Mandates regarding the vaccination status of participants in tennis competitions. As such, we will require all participants in our Twilight and Saturday GMLTA competitions to provide Proof of Vaccination prior to commencement of each competition, in order for their registration to be officially accepted.

The Club will take advantage of the easing of restrictions afforded to us at the 70% fully vaccinated milestone to hold two separate “Registration Sessions”. The process for these sessions is as follows:

  • Players will be required to report to the tournament box and provide Proof of Vaccination (electronic or hard copy), after which they be officially entered into the competition.
  • For anyone who cannot attend on the dates and times specified below, please contact the competition organiser, who can arrange an alternative time to tick off your Proof of Vaccination.
  • Failure to provide vaccination proof at these sessions (or arrange an alternative time prior to these sessions) will unfortunately involve the player or team being removed from the competition.
  • People who have a scheduled appointment for a second dose may have their name provisionally ticked off at the sessions. Proof of second dose will then be required prior to play on first round of competition.
  • After your name is ticked off, we encourage players to have a hit and enjoy a drink after their return to the court. The bar will be open at both sessions.

The proposed dates for the Registration Sessions are as follows:

  • Session 1: Wednesday 27th October, from 5:30pm
  • Session 2: Saturday 30th October, from 1:00pm

In the event there is an easing or an adjustment made to the Victorian Government’s Vaccine Mandate, the SLTC will adjust processes accordingly. We thank you for your understanding in this matter, and look forward to seeing everyone back on the court soon.

Sincerely,

Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club Committee
