Scone Hardcourt Tennis Association is excited to host an official AO 1 Point Slam community event on Friday 12 December 2025, joining clubs around the country in this fast-paced, winner-takes-all competition.
The AO 1 Point Slam is exactly what it sounds like — one point decides the match. Players of all ages and abilities get a single chance to hit their best shot, with the local champion progressing to the State Championships on Saturday 20 December. The state winner then earns a place in the AO 1 Point Slam Main Draw at the Australian Open.
Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley says the simplicity and excitement of the format is what makes it special.
“The AO 1 Point Slam is tennis at its most exciting – one point, one shot at glory. It’s fast, unfiltered and open to everyone.”
“Every player has the chance to win their way to take on the pros including world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz under the lights of Rod Laver Arena… and for clubs and coaches who host events, there’s also the chance to win a $50,000 grant if the player representing them goes on to win.”
The AO 1 Point Slam Main Draw will see 48 players — pros, celebrity wildcards and amateur champions — take to Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
Each of the eight state champions will receive return flights to Melbourne, two nights’ accommodation, and the full AO Player Experience.
Community hosts also have the chance to win significant prizes. If Scone’s winner triumphs at the State Championships, the club receives a $5,000 tennis grant. If our representative wins the AO 1 Point Slam final, SHTA will take home a $50,000 grant.
