Junior Tennis Returns to Sale Tennis Club

Isolation has been challenging, but there is some good sporting news. Junior tennis has returned to Sale Tennis Club.

Sale Tennis Club is running 2 separate junior programs each Saturday morning, Hot Shots and a junior challenge tournament.

Hot Shots is tennis for primary school aged children. It is a program designed to help every child, no matter their age or ability, jump in and start playing tennis. Tennis Hot Shots is played on smaller courts with modified equipment, including lighter racquets, lower nets and low compression balls that don’t bounce too high. Sale Tennis Club coach Anthony Zafiris runs the Saturday morning Hot Shots sessions.

Anthony is an elite Tennis Australia coach and helps guide the children through all stages of their tennis development.  Tennis Hot Shots is not only heaps of fun, it’s also a great way to encourage children to maintain an active lifestyle. Apart from skills like agility, flexibility and speed, the program will help children learn important social skills, making lots of friends along the way.

To get your child involved in Tennis Hot Shots phone Anthony on 0403 724 796 or just come down to Sale Tennis Club in Stephenson Park at 9.00 am on Saturday morning.  The program runs for 45 minutes and costs $8 per child.

For more experienced juniors there is a “Fast 4 Challenge Tournament” each Saturday morning.  The tournament runs for 90 minutes and will give each child a series of fun Fast 4 sets involving both singles and doubles.  The tournament will cater for players of all standards with the morning’s aggregate winner receiving a prize.  There is no need to book ahead, just come along and enjoy a fun morning of tennis.  The challenge costs $5 per child.

Both programs will observe the Tennis Victoria mandated COVID-19 requirements for tennis activities in regional areas.
