Rupanyup v Noradjuha-Quantong, 2019.
The Rupanyup Recreation Reserve will soon have new state-of-the-art lights, after receiving $99,100 from the state government and Yarriambiack Shire Council to install new lighting.
Rupanyup's Matt Webb said he was "relieved" to receive the funding after almost 15 years of work.
"It wouldn't be far off (15 years). I started it back when I was playing, the condition of the lights back then were pretty ordinary," Mr Webb said.
"Trying to get funding is always challenging, but it has been a long time in the making.
"We're just really happy now to press ahead and get something done.
"It's been on the go for quite a while, so everyone is aware of what we have to do from here."
Mr Webb said the ground desperately needed the new infrastructure.
"Last season we had in temporary lighting, and one of our poles we had to decommission," Mr Webb said.
"So we were in desperate need.
"We've probably got a few proposed uses for it - obviously it helps with football, also maybe some evening cricket stuff as well.
"Hopefully it can be a bit more inclusive within the community, and we can get the interest of a few more organisations to utilise it as well."
Rupanyup Football Netball Club president Rod Weidemann said the club would ultimately like to host a night fixture once everything had been put in place.
"This funding will hopefully cover the whole project," Mr Weidemann said.
"The end game is we'd really like to get a night fixture, but we've got to get it all done and go through a few more things before that.
