Reid Tennis Club walked away with three awards at the Tennis ACT Awards event last night.

Due to COVID restrictions, the awards were streamed live on the Tennis ACT Facebook page. Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, introduced the evening and Todd Woodbridge presented two awards.

President, Terry Walker, was awarded the prestigious 2021 Volunteer Achievement Award. This included a donation to the Club of $5,000 from ANZ Bank.

This award honours the countless hours Terry has contributed to the Club and building the sport of tennis. Terry first joined Reid Tennis Club in 1964 and has been associated with the Club over many years. He was Vice President before becoming President in 2013. Since then the Club's membership has increased by over 50 per cent. Terry was noted for his promotion of the Club as friendly, inviting and inclusive and as the driving force behind welcoming new members and building links with the local community. He steered the Club through the successful introduction of ClubSpark and the Book a Court system. In June 2020 Reid Tennis Club was the number one venue in Australia based on ClubSpark usage and membership signups. Terry has worked hard to improve the Club's facilities such as overseeing the installation of new court surfaces and LED lighting and is hands-on in ensuring the Clubhouse and grounds are kept in top condition. You are sure to find Terry around the Club on most days of the week.

Vice President and Pennant Coordinator, Sue Willis, was honoured with two awards.

Sue was named Most Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior for 2021 for her continued involvement in the sport of tennis over a prolonged period of time both as a player and administrator. Sue is currently on the Board of Tennis Seniors ACT. Over the years Sue has been active at Tennis Seniors country tournaments and was a member of the Australian team to the 2019 World Super-Seniors Championships. She was described as an excellent ambassador both on and off the court and a fantastic role model within the broader tennis community.

As the 2021 ACT Adult Club Player of the Year Sue was recognised for her strong performance in Club and Tennis ACT competitions and for her contribution to the development of the game of tennis as a member of the Reid Committee for the past decade. Sue works hard to help players build social tennis networks at the Club and readily helps interested players get involved in Tennis ACT competitions. She actively promotes tennis as a ‘game for life’ and strives to find ways to increase player participation and enjoyment both on and off the court. Sue can be seen regularly playing on the courts at Reid.

Congratulations Terry and Sue!
