Welcome to the 2025 PTA Championships! This premier event is exclusively for players from PTA-affiliated clubs and offers an exciting opportunity to compete in both singles and doubles categories. Hosted by Rye Tennis Club, with additional courts provided by Dromana Tennis Club, the PTA Championships are set to be a thrilling weekend of high-quality tennis for players of all abilities.

Event Details:

  • Doubles Tournament: Saturday, 15th March, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Singles Tournament: Saturday, 22nd March, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Finals: Sunday, 23rd March, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

The doubles category makes its debut this year, providing an exciting new challenge for players looking to team up and compete. The singles tournament remains a key event for identifying and selecting players for representative teams, and participation is an important factor in the selection process. Whether you’re aiming for a spot on the team or simply looking for an opportunity to test your skills, the PTA Championships is the place to be.

Grading and UTR System:

As with all PTA tournaments, players will be graded into sections and pools based on their Universal Tennis Rating (UTR). This ensures that players are competing against others with similar skill levels, creating a fair and competitive environment for all participants.

If you feel your UTR does not accurately reflect your ability, this is a great opportunity to challenge yourself by playing matches against players with similar UTR ratings. Every match played can help you improve your ranking and gain valuable experience, so don't worry if your rating isn’t where you want it to be – this tournament is all about growth and improvement.

Why Play?

The PTA Championships are more than just a competition; they are a vital part of the representative team selection process. Playing in this event gives you the chance to showcase your skills and increase your chances of being selected for future PTA-affiliated representative teams.

We encourage all PTA competition players to enter, regardless of their current ranking. Players of all abilities are welcome, as the entry system ensures that everyone competes against opponents of similar ability.

Important Notes:

  • The event is exclusively for PTA-affiliated club players. Players from non-affiliated clubs are not eligible to enter.
  • Doubles - When you enter the doubles event list your partner but also make sure they enter seperately too and list you as their partner.
  • If you don't have a partner we will pair you with someone of a similar standard.
  • Pairings can be any mix - all boys, all girls or mixed.
  • All entries will be graded using the UTR system, and players will be placed in sections based on their UTR for fair competition.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity to not only compete but to improve your UTR and gain valuable match experience.
