The Pax Hill Tennis Club would like to express our appreciation to Beverly Pead for her significant contribution to the Club over the past 10+ years. Bev has most recently been the club Treasurer but has also held many other positions over her years on the committee. With her family no longer playing tennis, Bev has decided to step down from her position on the committee and plans a move to Queensland in the near future. As a result we are in search of a new treasurer or other committee members. We are calling on any senior players or parents to volunteer to assist in the running of the club. AGM – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM. Thursday 9th November, 7:00 to 8:00 at the clubhouse.

Tennis Season begins on Saturday 7th of October 2023.

Saturday morning junior competition teams will play in the Latrobe Valley Tennis Association (LVTA) competition this season. Each player will be provided with a competition draw, which will detail the playing venue, names of team mates and the name and contact details of their team managers.

Saturday afternoon senior competition play in the Latrobe Valley Tennis Association (LVTA) competition. If you are looking for a fun filled afternoon and would like to join a team, please contact Sally – 0403 282 630.

We ask that anyone who intends to play competition this year register their interest to Scotty or Sally by September 15th so we can arrange teams.

The Player Registration fees will stay the same for the coming season - $95 for juniors or seniors competition, $120 for combined juniors and seniors and $55 for midweek social members. Payment is required by 4th October and players will not be allowed to take the court until registration is completed. (If you need a payment plan for fees, please let Scotty know)

We had a great season last year, with all teams doing Pax Hill proud on a weekly basis. Congratulations to everyone for putting in a lot of effort and having a brilliant season of tennis, everyone should be proud of themselves. We had numerous junior teams make it to the finals, and well done to sections 6 and 8 on winning. Our senior teams also demonstrated some great effort with our Pax Hill team winning the singles competition. It is fantastic to see a small club like ours entering so many teams with excellent results.

Uniforms

Uniforms are available to all Pax Hill members to borrow and now require a fully refundable deposit of $20. Uniforms must be returned to the club on end of use. Therefore please email your size requirement to paxhilltennisclub@outlook.com and make payment of the deposit to the below bank account details. If you have a uniform from last season you must return it if you would like to swap for a larger size.  If you have paid a deposit in previous years this will go towards the deposit of the new uniforms. The uniforms will be passed to Scotty to hand out in lessons or we will make arrangements for pick up once you have ordered and paid.

Top courts

We now have a lock with a code for use of the top courts and have implemented a booking system on our web page. The courts will be free to use but you must now book so your details can be recorded. Once you book you will receive an email with the code for the lock. Please ensure you book each time you wish to use the courts.

FUNDRAISING

We will be doing 1 or 2 Bunnings BBQs per year to assist in the running of the club. Fundraising is essential to keep the club going and make improvements to the facility. Apart from the repayment of our loan for the court resurfacing, our annual ongoing costs are approximately $5,000.

If any of our members have any ideas or suggestion that would boost our fundraising efforts, please contact a committee member to discuss and share their ideas.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Pax Hill Tennis Club is run by a volunteer committee. We are a small group of volunteers who work towards making our small club better. We are in need of more committee members. If you can spare some time to attend meetings we would appreciate your help. You don’t need to commit to holding a position and we only meet around 4 times a year. Most of our work is done through email. If you are interested in joining us, please attend our AGM or contact a committee member.

Alternatively, if you are able to volunteer your time but don’t want to be involved in the committee we would be happy to take any assistance you can offer. There are many maintenance and cleaning tasks around the club that we would be grateful for assistance with. There are also fundraising events that need to be organised or assisted with during the event. Other jobs include updating of the website, writing newsletters, advertising events, gaining quotes for improvement projects and writing grant applications. Any time you can volunteer would be appreciated. Please contact a committee member if you would like to volunteer some time.

Our sponsors will not only have their business promoted through their sign on our tennis court fence but also be acknowledged on our letterhead and website. We believe that this offer can provide additional exposure for your business as we have 100 + people using our facilities weekly.
