A note from Tim (Our President)
Our thanks for all that took the time to attend the AGM. It is always pleasing to be quorate without having to persuade some members to vacate the courts! The colour of the night was provided by Mark Hughes who, armed with slides, presented a snapshot of some of the strategy work and conversations that have informed the committee. In some sense this will always be work in progress but it provided some insights as to how we are engaging with the community and providing opportunities for tennis and interaction through our club.
We were pleased to welcome Rob Levickis to the committee who brings experience and a specific skill set that will be very useful for managing our assets and infrastructure. We were also pleased that our revised constitution was supported. Aside from the administrative benefits of the effective adoption of the Consumer Affairs Victoria model the key changes were changing our administrative year to calendar which is now the same as our subscription year as well as introducing term limits for office bearers. As one of the slides that Mark presented challenged the possibility that volunteering for the committee might be a form of life sentance, we are endeavouring to encourage an experience that making a contribution for but a time will be good for the committee and club.
Presentation of awards is a special moment and Murray Hamilton introduced us to Josh Daley who received the Junior Achievement award. Tim Shepherd was proud to present the Meritorious Service Awards to Felicity Woodhead and Kelly Wall who have done a fabulous job initiating and establishing the Lady Twilighters as the place to be on a Thursday evening.
Regards from your POTC Committee
