October 2024 Club News

Welcome to everyone playing the Spring night competition. A lot of new members have joined the club for this competition just when several of our usual players have been diverted by other commitments. It’s a good sign for local tennis. Thanks to Peter and Nicole Gordon for once again organising the teams and draws.

The new club peaked caps are still available in white and bright yellow with the club emblem on them. They are $25 each and all proceeds go to keeping the club ticking over.

Our submission to the May 2024 Clubgrants Category 3 Infrastructure funding round was unsuccessful and we are now working towards a submission for the November 2024 round. The approaching Crown Reserves Improvement Fund grants are also in our sights which is due to open sometime in October 2024.

The social tennis group is enjoying their Monday and Thursday morning sessions from 0900 to 1100. Anyone is welcome to come and have a hit even if they are not members the first time they come.

Keep in mind that the January 2025 holiday twilight doubles tournaments are on again in the summer holidays. We have a slightly different timetable this year. Tuesday and Wednesday the 7th and 8th of January and Tuesday and Wednesday the 14th and 15th of January are the dates set. Registration starts at 5.30pm and first serves start at 6pm. The cost is $15 per person and there will be individual prizes and random draws. You can play one night or all the nights. If you have family and friends coming over the holidays tell them to pack their tennis racquets – it’s good fun.

We have navigated our way through the yearly renewals of affiliation and insurance through Tennis NSW. The yearly licensing with Reflections park management is yet to be finalised.

The committee has decided to change the monthly meeting to the 3rd Tuesday of each month rather than the 2nd Tuesday as in the past. This has become necessary because the current meeting day clashes with other meetings that some committee members would like to attend.

WORKING BEE: We are having a Working Bee at the club on Sunday the 27th of October. We have some rubbish to dispose of and there is some court maintenance to do. We will be removing some old, rusted wires and replacing them with new wire. Ther is some cleaning to do around the clubhouse as well. We will kick off at 10am and aim to do about 2 hours of work. Bring gloves and elbow grease and your racquets for a hit up afterwards.

See you around the courts.
