Club News June 2023

Good Morning

Membership Renewals due for the July 2023 to June 2024 year

Membership renewals are now due. Registrations and payment can be made online via the club’s website at https://play.tennis.com.au/pambulatennisclub - just look for the “Membership” tab. Alternatively, you can print off a hard copy membership renewal form to fill out and return to the club via post or hand to a committee member. A link is provided at the above website address under the “Membership” tab.

The committee has decided to keep the rates at the same level for this year. Full year membership remains at $100 for a family with children under 18 years, $60 for single adult membership and $30 for single junior (U/18) membership.

Insurance cover

Just a reminder that the club’s insurance only covers you if you are a current financial member of the club, whether you are playing socially or in the competition. That’s why it is important to sign up for the full year.

Monday and Thursday tennis

The hardy all year round Monday and Thursday social tennis group have donned the winter gear and plough on. A few fingers have gone missing and if you see them just pop them in the honesty box. As has been mentioned before if you have a random Monday or Thursday morning off, come and have a hit with the group between 9 and 11am.

New Walkway

There has been a delay with the new walkway between the courts. Our concreter has been delayed by other projects and has had to put our project back somewhat.

The hunt for funding

There are a couple of major grant funding rounds coming up and we are getting quotes for wire replacement and new court surfaces for courts 3&4 and 5&6. Sandy is gathering support letters from appropriate parties and Sandy and Vicki Barber have been writing supporting documentation for the applications as well.

We will be approaching some small grant providers for some minor project assistance also.

Court surface, lighting and wire surrounds specifications

The request for quotes specifications have been finished and sent to several suppliers and installers so we should have some quotes on file in time for the grant funding rounds. Our specifications for courts 5 & 6 include the laying of a cushioned acrylic surface that will include removable posts for tennis and Pickleball. This will also make it feasible to use it to be used for other sports as well.

Annual General Meeting – Tuesday, 8th August at 6pm

The tennis club annual general meeting will take place on Tuesday the 8th of August at 6pm at the clubhouse. A nomination form for committee positions will be put up on the club website in the very near future. All members are welcome to attend.
