August 2023 News

The Annual General Meeting of the club was held on the 8th of August with essentially the same committee re-elected for the new club year.
Sandy Farrell is the Secretary and has done a power of work these last twelve months. This has included the usual secretary duties and the added time associated with grant writing.
Peter ‘Speed’ Gordon is again the Vice President and continues to organise the Monday evening Spring and Winter comps (more on that later).
Nicole Gordon again fills the Treasurers role and contributes in a big way to the comp and the new holiday events in January.
Frank Davey (OAM in case you missed the news), Vicki Barber, Bernie Keating, Cato Bailey and Bob Arthur have taken on the committee positions and have continued to lend support to the many responsibilities and tasks.
Rick Farrell has again taken on the Presidents responsibilities.
The preliminaries of the Spring Monday night competition commence on Monday the 21st of August with the practice hit ups, grading and registration on that night and the following Monday before the start of the competition proper on Monday the 4th of September.
As usual all levels of players are welcome and club membership fees, and the competition fees, are the same as last year. You can pay membership via the website (Google it mate!) or at the courts on the night.
We are hoping to have the concrete path commenced and finished in September and we anticipate minor changes in getting to courts 3 and 4 when that occurs.
As mentioned above, Sandy Farrell has identified the upcoming Club Grants Category 3 as a potential source of funds to do more upgrading and improvements to the courts. A lot of time has been spent chasing quotes for the various projects on our list. A considerable amount of time has also been spent putting together the grant application and organising letters of support. Go Sandy!
