Jean Van Rensburg

The Morphett Vale Tennis Club (MVTC) is extremely proud to enlist Jean Van Rensburg as the new Head Club Coach.

Jean [pronounces John] comes from South Africa where he was the top-ranked junior in under 16 & 18 age groups, participating in the French Open Junior & Wimbledon Junior tournaments. After finishing school he moved to USA to study on a tennis scholarship at the University of Arkansas, a NCAA Division 1 college. He played professional tournaments during this time and also on arrival back to South Africa. Although he has never played professional tennis full time he has played ATP events and had a career high ATP singles ranking of 592 and ATP doubles ranking of 301. Moreover, he played the French Open Qualifiers and Wimbledon Qualifiers.  Throughout his legal career in South Africa he continued playing competitive tennis and was ranked 9th on the ITF International veterans rankings in 1997 (35+). In 2007 he was the 45+ South African national singles champion!

His coaching career started in USA, then continued on a part time basis back in South Africa. He started coaching full time on arrival to Australia In 2008. In 2009 he obtained the Junior Development Coaching certification through the Tennis Australia coaching program and was recognised by Tennis Australia as a Talent Development Coach in 2014 and 2015. As such he was involved in a number of Tennis SA events, namely, the 10/U Project Talent Camp, the 12/U Talent Development Camp and 12/U State Camp. Apart from coaching at a number of local clubs he also coached in primary and secondary schools. His love of tennis and coaching is obvious by his continuous attendance to conferences, camps & workshops presented by Tennis SA and Tennis Australia.

Jean has had an amazing career in the tennis world and we are very privileged to have him pass on his knowledge & experience to our members at the Morphett Vale Tennis Club. Further announcements will be made as new programs start. SO WATCH THIS SPACE !!!
