Cracking on with repairs!

Mount Alexander Shire Council  have formally engaged a contractor to undertake the crack repairs at Maldon Tennis Club and the job is now awaiting to be scheduled. The contractor is a local specialist court contractor (B & T Pools and Courts Surfacing) who undertakes a lot of this work across the region for Councils and schools. They also completed the resurfacing works (new acrylic) to the Netball Court at Bill Woodfull.

The methodology of repair is recommended by 2mh consulting (Tennis Victoria recommended technical consultant) and includes filling the cracks with a flexible compound filler product and then placing a slip resistant acrylic court surface (specialised paint) across the cracked area only.  As this painted surface will be integrated with the existing aged asphalt surface, it’s extremely difficult to colour match this. As such there will be a noticeable colour difference. To help  visualise this please see the completed photo of the Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve Netball Court, where a similar scope of works was undertaken 12 months ago. This facility had more severe and a larger volume of cracks compared to Maldon Tennis courts.

These repairs are only an interim response to potential trip hazards identified through the 2mh audit report last year. Council and Maldon Tennis Club will still need to work together on a long term plan for court upgrades/renewal, which we hope will be sooner rather than later.
