Liston Hot Shot Juniors attend the Australian Open

It was a very excited group of  Liston Hot Shot juniors and their parents that met at Melbourne Park on Thursday the 25 of January to attend and participate in the Australian Open.

Our Liston juniors were lucky enough to be invited onto Court 6 before the scheduled morning match. Mini tennis nets were set up and DNTA Coach  Kane was there to encourage and coordinate our juniors. After a warm-up, a game of Around The World was played and the juniors loved the encouragement and cheers of the crowd as the grandstand filled up with spectators.  A shout-out by Kane "This is the future of Australian Tennis" received a round of applause from the crowd, much to the delight of our juniors. At the end of their match, our juniors lined up and took a bow for the crowd, again receiving cheers and applause from the enthusiastic Australian Open spectators.

Our juniors left the court as Australian Matt Ebden and his double partner India's Rohan Bopanna arrived to warm up and take on Czech Tomas Machac and China's Zhang Zhizhen.

Liston's own Indiana was very excited to do the coin toss before the match and smiled from ear to ear as she got to chat with Rob Millman (Australian doubles player) and have a photo with the players prior to the match.

Our juniors then joined their parents in the grandstand to watch the electric, hard-fought two hours doubles match that was won by Matt Ebden and Rohan Bopanna. The rest of the day was spent enjoying the spectacular Melbourne weather and the electic atmosphere with the ground pass provided by Tennis Victoria while watching and soaking up the great Australian Open atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Tennis Victoria for this unique opportunity for our junior tennis champs and DNTA Coach Kane for his dedication and support to the growth of our Liston Juniors.
