The Saturday morning juniors competition is run by the Mirboo North & District Junior Tennis Association (MN&DJTA). Tennis is a great option for any junior player looking for a Saturday morning summer season sport!
The home & away competition is played during term 4 2023 & term 1 2024 around South Gippsland. The venues and clubs include Leongatha, Mardan, Mirboo North, Fish Creek and Korumburra.
The MN&DJTA competition is mostly based on ability, however each grade does have a maximum age but not a minimum. Eg. a 10 year old could play A grade if their ability matches A grade level.
- A Grade: Highest grade, open to all juniors aged 18&U – new yellow balls used each round
- B Grade: Intermediate level, open to juniors aged 15&U years of age - good condition used yellow balls for each round
- C Grade: Open to primary school aged children 12&U year of age – green 75% low compression balls used each round
- C2 Grade: This is new grade for children aged 8&U – orange 50% low compression balls used each round. Courts are modified to three-quarter court (using drop down lines)
The Leongatha Tennis Club junior teams are co-ordinated by Matt Pocklington, the club head coach and volunteer co-ordinator for the junior competitions. The overall competition is run by volunteers from each of the participating clubs.
Competition fees are INCLUDED with a junior Club membership - with C grade junion membership at the special price of $35, or A/B grade juniors at $90. This is great value compared to all the other summer sports!
