FPTC to Host the Cambridge Cup

The Cambridge Cup is returning. The popular, inter-club competition featuring Floreat Park, City Beach and Reabold will be hosted at Floreat Park Tennis Club from 13.30 on Sunday October 22nd.

The event was a regular fixture on the local calendar prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, and now returns with the aim to make it a consistent feature on the schedule. City Beach is the reigning holder of the trophy.

For this year’s event, FPTC Captain Adrian Fowler and Club Coach Andy Mackechnie have drawn together a squad of FPTC members. The players have been chosen to represent the social and competitive playing sides of the club.

Each team will consist of eight women and eight men, playing a combination of doubles matches to produce the winning club. The list of FPTC players making up the squad will be updated online in the next week.

Playing format

 - Each player plays 4 matches

    - 1 same sex doubles and 1 mixed doubles against each club

 - Players to be ranked 1-8 for each sex

 - Combinations for doubles will be within the 1-4 group or 5-8 group

     eg. cannot have No 1 player play doubles with the number 5 player or below

Match duration

 - Standard 8 game set with normal deuce

 - Time limit for each match if required is 40 minutes at which time game score is recorded.

- 5 minute break between matches
