Safety

The main change since the last update is that we now have auto-dispensing sanitiser units at both clubhouse doors.  As you'll read in the Nillumbik Shire Council section below we still can't use the clubhouse, but at least the units are there for when we can open.

There's a new Covid Information page on our site, with hygiene information, guidance for competition players, and a link to the current Tennis Victoria guidelines.  

Social Tennis

All social tennis sessions are still at fixed times through the day, and need to be booked by phone - members can book by calling Laurie Sparks on 0427 830 163‬ between 9am and 7pm.   Non-members can be included the social tennis session bookings, if the booking includes members and the members make sure the non-member follows the guidelines.  Unfortunately we still cannot offer public court hire at this stage. 

The main change since the last update is that we're opening up the other courts, particularly 3 and 5, to get some play on them.  You may have noticed they were heading towards being grass courts, and playing on them and bagging them will help sort out the grass.

Major Project

Our major project - New Courts - is now in the tendering stage.  The expected completion is still December 2020.

Competition Tennis

Tennis Victoria

Tennis Victoria released new guidelines on Wednesday the 17th of June, which included the statement that community competition tennis could restart from the Monday the 22nd of June 2020.  Nillumbik Shire Council have allowed this now (see below).

Tennis Associations

All but one (DVTA) of the tennis associations we participate in have suspended or abandoned the current competition season (Autumn 2020), and all have started planning for Spring 2020 season.  

NEJTA - Saturday morning boys, girls, and mixed - CURRENT SEASON ABANDONED

NENTG - Tuesday night mens, Wednesday night ladies - CURRENT SEASON ABANDONED

HDTA - Tuesday morning ladies - CURRENT SEASON ABANDONED

MMTA - Thursday afternoon mixed - CURRENT SEASON ABANDONED

DVTA - Monday night mixed, Thursday morning ladies, Thursday night mens, Friday night juniors - CURRENT SEASON RESTARTING MONDAY 22ND JUNE 2020 (ETC teams are deciding for themselves whether to particpate, and the committee will support whatever they decide)

Courts

The council have allowed us to use the courts as long as we are strictly following the Tennis Victoria Return to Tennis health guidelines, which now include using the courts for competition tennis (as of 22nd June 2020). 

Toilets

The council have said we could open one single toilet cubicle in the clubhouse if we choose to, and if we do it must be in the ladies' bathroom.  There are stringent cleaning requirements, including that all touched surfaces are to be cleaned and disinfected at least daily.  The ETC committee are currently working through the issues around this, but for the moment we are going to keep the clubhouse shut, and therefore there is currently no toilet access available.   (Single cubicle) toilet access is likely to be made available for coaching and competition starting on Monday the 22nd of June, but an update will be sent out before then to confirm this.

Clubhouse

The council are still reviewing full clubhouse access including the use of all toilets.  They don't have an estimate of how long it will take, although we've heard that Tennis Victoria are working with all the councils to get clubhouses open by the time Spring competitions begin.
