Gold Coast City Councillor Naomi Fowler presents the grant to Club Treasurer Rob Howe and Club Secretary Roxy Pringle.
Gold Coast City Council Grant of $45,000 to the Club
On behalf of Discovery Park Tennis Club and all its members we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Gold Coast City Council for awarding our club this very significant grant.
This money has been used to replace the surface on Court 1 and to refurnish our outdoor area. With this type of support, we can continue to provide high-quality tennis facilities for all our members and the local tennis community to enjoy.
We value the ongoing support of Council and their commitment to community sport and recreation.
Club Update
Your committee has been working hard and is thrilled to share a number of exciting improvements and initiatives that will make a big difference to our Club. These improvements are all about making your tennis experience more enjoyable, enhancing security and ensuring long-term sustainability – while staying financially responsible.
Court Resurfacing
Court 1 has now been resurfaced using the latest high-quality synthetic grass material.
New Club Furniture Coming Soon
A full furniture fit-out is on the way to further enhance our facilities. Installation will follow the gate upgrades to ensure our new items are secure. This upgrade will create a more welcoming and vibrant space for everyone to enjoy.
New Pro Shop and Café-Style Offering
A brand-new Pro Shop is coming!
* Expanded range of tennis services for players
* Café-style options for all members and guests
Improved Security with New Automated Gates
3 new automated gates are being installed to significantly improve site security and access.
* The front gate will now open and close automatically on a timer and can be operated remotely by Committee members.
* This means the facility will be securely closed when needed, and reliably open to members and the public at the right times – no longer relying on volunteers to manually open or lock up.
New Shade Mesh on Courts 1 and 3
New shade mesh is being installed on Courts 1 and 3 to reduce glare and improve playing comfort – especially during the sunnier months.
Court Hire Rates – More Value for Everyone
Following a recent review:
* Night hire fees have been reduced resulting in:
* $11 p/h saving for members
* $6 p/h saving for non-members
This has already led to an increase in night tennis bookings.
Operational Savings: Insurance and Cleaning
* Insurance review resulted in a saving of: $500 p/year
* Cleaning arrangements review saved: $3,900/ p/year
These savings help us reinvest directly back into club facilities and services.
Last But Not Least!!! A Big Welcome to Our 2 New Committee Members
We’re delighted to welcome 2 long-standing members and club supporters to the Committee, Nicole Swallow and Karla Carter. Both are well-known faces and bring fresh energy and a strong desire to help continue building our great Club.
