Thank you for your patience during this difficult time as the club continues to adapt to the ever changing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation and respond appropriately to updated guidelines and recommendations issued by Tennis ACT (to which BPTC is affiliated).
Tennis ACT, Tennis NSW and two other State tennis bodies have now recommended that:
- all tennis programmes and coaching now be cancelled, including one on one coaching, until further notice;
- all club and social play now be cancelled until further notice; and
- all tennis clubs and centres now close until further notice.
Tennis ACT has set a deadline of 11pm tonight (28 March 2020) for clubs to close. Here is the full statement issued by Tennis ACT to tennis stakeholders on 27 March 2020 for your information.
In response to the Tennis ACT recommendation the committee has decided to close Bungendore Park Tennis Club. RSTA and Super Coach Dave are also closing down temporarily. We are mindful of the impact this will have on everyone for whom tennis is an integral part of their lives and in particular, families with school age children, for whom tennis is regarded as a safe sporting activity and an opportunity to escape 'cabin fever'. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are lucky we have parks, the lovely Elmslea ponds greenway, Spooks Hill walk and Brooks Hill Reserve just up the road.
As the COVID-19 situation unfolds Tennis ACT will continue to explore all appropriate options for resuming tennis in a safe way guided by health officials. Temporarily closing the club has been a difficult decision and we look forward to tennis returning to our wonderful community soon. Thank you for your continuing patience and understanding throughout this difficult time and please stay safe.
