We had 76 people to our trivia/social night held for the first time at the Regents Park Sports pavilion which is a great venue for events. A fun night was had by all, and the Tuesday nighter’s won the stolen rigged trivia, but at least the presidents table did not finish last. Bob can fill you in more on that. Penny our chief organiser, on the night and before, did a great job and even made a 100-year anniversary cake. Big thanks to Ged, Eleesa, Bob, Merinda, and Vivienne for helping put it all together. Gail from the football netball club was amazing in helping us get organised and went well beyond the call of duty. Ethan from the funky bunch kept us on our toes with some probing fun trivia.
Best dressed on the men’s side went to Pat Cash alias Mitch Smith, or the other way around, and Cathy McDonald alias School girl tennis player? on the women’s side. Honouree mention to Cathy’s husband Father Terry who reminded us of the need for divine support both on the court and off. Rob the coach and Georgiana his wife were both resplendent in there tennis attire from yester year but missed by a whisker. This was a crowd vote. Rob however was the best player and performer on the night pipping out perennial winner coach Richard. What is it with these coaches?.
A special mention to Nicky Hersey, our previous President. who has researched the club’s history for our 100th year anniversary. This has taken a lot of Nicky’s time, but the history is fascinating, and we will put more up on the web site. I do remember most of it! As does Brian Gray our oldest living member.
Thanks so much to the businesses and people who donated comprising: Ciccios Woodfire Pizzeria Aspendale, The Street Café, Aspendale, Tim Richardson State MP, Mark Dreyfus Federal MP, and also our committee people Bob, Penny, Vivienne & Merinda.
Remember our courts are open to all, even those who play Cinderella tennis and don’t make it to the ball.
Cheers
