Working Bee
Working Bee: 15th or 22nd April 2023
Weston Creek Tennis Club is proposing to hold a Working Bee on 15th and/or 22nd April to work on two projects - Gazebos or Cotoneasters. If you are interested and able to help, please email the club at westoncreektennisclub@gmail.com with dates and projects you are able to help with.
Group 1 - Nets - Phillip, Graeme, Tim and Geoff
The shed has been reorganised and net condition assessment completed. Court 5 net has been replaced and courts 7 and 8 nets will be replaced in the next day or two. New nets will be purchased to complete the process. Phillip, Graeme, Tim and Geoff are already working on replacing or mending the nets on the courts.
Group 2 - Gazebos - 2 teams of 3 (6 people)
The decking timber and balusters are in reasonable condition with only a power clean of the decks considered necessary prior to “oiling” . The stair treads could use a sand (orbital sander) before “oiling”. Possible programme:
- Remove tables and bench seats - clean
- Sand steps and where necessary
- Power clean decks
- “Oil” Bench seats and tables while decks are drying
- Cut in deck edges and balusters as necessary
- “oil” decks
- Tape across entrances while “oil” is wet.
Group 3 - Pruning Cotoneasters - 9-10 people
Will need long handled and normal motorised hedge trimmers , 2 of each would be good = 4 people plus 4 or 5 more to collect cuttings and load trailers (a truck is not considered necessary.

Fencing Volunteers Wanted
A project to install timber borders along the base of the wire fences, at the back of each tennis court, has commenced. However, we desperately need your help.
We are looking for volunteers who can offer a hammer drill or equipment and/or a few hours of their time to assist in the installation of the timber borders. The work requires people who could drill holes, install the timber, and bolt down the timber.
It is hoped the work could be done on a convenient weekend in the near future.
If anyone can help could you please contact Geoff Kotz on (02) 6291 9032 or at gwkotz@hotmail.com. Geoff is co-ordinating the work.
Generally we are able to complete projects using volunteers from within the Club’s committee members. However, this project does need additional volunteers and any assistance from our members would be gratefully appreciated.
