SWTC Triumphs Over NNTC in United Friendly Cup Summer Series 2023.

In a thrilling showdown at the Wests Tennis Club, Southwest Tennis Club (SWTC) emerged victorious against Nepalese Northwest Tennis Club (NNTC) in the latest installment of the United Friendly Cup on Saturday, December 23, 2023 sponsored by  CS Mortgage Services and Aussie Finance and Homeloan Services.

Despite a delayed start due to the extended duration of the Tennis Australia tournament, the anticipation among tennis enthusiasts reached its peak as the top 15 players from both clubs gathered for a fiercely contested battle on the court.

The tournament, featuring 11 singles, 3 doubles, and 1 Juniors match, showcased the exceptional talent and competitive spirit of the players from both SWTC and NNTC. SWTC claimed victory in the summer series with a narrow margin of 8 wins to 7, maintaining their reputation as formidable opponents on the court.

  

Shannon Malla emerged as a standout performer for SWTC, earning the coveted title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) from the club. Malla's exceptional display in the top 3rd singles match against NNTC's Nihal Sherstha, coupled with his remarkable comeback alongside partner Santosh Bhattarai in the doubles match, solidified his status as a key asset for SWTC.

On the opposing side, Suman Neupane was hailed as the MVP for NNTC, showcasing resilience and skill in securing a crucial win in the top spot clash against Niraj Gautam.

The United Friendly Cup, a biannual tournament alternating between summer and winter series, has been a testament to the camaraderie and competitive spirit shared between SWTC and NNTC. While SWTC hosts the summer series, NNTC takes charge of the winter series, ensuring a balanced and engaging rivalry between the two clubs.

Despite the delay in the commencement of the matches, the players exhibited unwavering dedication and sportsmanship, captivating spectators with their remarkable performances. As the sun set over the Wests Tennis Club, SWTC emerged victorious, yet the spirit of friendly competition and mutual respect prevailed, further strengthening the bond between the two clubs.
