Tennis at the Park #2

In 1903 The Queanbeyan Age reported on a tennis match in Cooma (originally published in the Cooma Mercury). Queanbeyan players travelled by train to Cooma for a series of singles and doubles matches. The Queanbeyan players performed strongly, winning the singles 54–21 and the doubles 75–40, resulting in an overall victory of 129–61 🏆

The event was marked by hospitality, with a luncheon at Ladds' Hotel and afternoon tea provided by local ladies, reflecting the communal spirit of these gatherings.

Such interclub matches were not only competitive but also served as significant social events, fostering camaraderie and community engagement. They were often reported in local newspapers such as The Queanbeyan Age, highlighting their importance in the social fabric of the time.

Our players continue to travel the region today for tennis, with some junior players competing in Goulburn this weekend.
