Serving Up Opportunity: First Nations Tennis Clinic

Wednesday 17th September Regional Tennis Coaching had the privilege of again supporting the First Nations Tennis Clinic in Port Augusta, delivered in partnership with Tennis SA. The event brought together local children and families for an afternoon of fun, skill-building, and community connection.

Tennis SA’s Luke Doughty and Jason Todd, alongside Regional Tennis Coaching coaches Elaine Ladesma and Jackson Tuip, guided participants aged five and up through engaging drills and games that showcased just how accessible and enjoyable tennis can be.

Caregivers also joined an information session hosted by Ruby and Cam Foulis, highlighting pathways for young players, including Hotshots programs, junior competitions, and opportunities such as the First Nations National Carnival in Darwin.

The day concluded with a barbecue prepared by Mesha Murray (AFFS) and Allan Murray (Port Augusta Clontarf Academy), giving families a chance to connect while enjoying a shared meal. Feedback from participants and organisers was overwhelmingly positive, marking the clinic as a highlight for the community.

This event reinforced the impact of collaboration between local organisations and the role tennis can play in creating meaningful opportunities for young people in Port Augusta.
