Round 9 felt the affects of the Easter Long Weekend with 5 players needing an extra long weekend. The phones were ringing hot for the reserves – lucky we have plenty of options and it kept the comp rolling.
Interestingly for the first time this comp the ladder remains unchanged but 3rd-6th place is separated by just 4 games. There is now just two weeks of play left for this Summer season and it would take a monumental shift for Brendan Augustus to catch Lachlan Date at the top but the same can not be said for 2nd place with 5 players nipping at Brendan’s heels. They know 2nd place comes with silverware and they want to finish well heading into the break.
A special mention to reserves Danny Dossetor and Andrew Noad who only dropped 4 games for the night so ended up with a season record of 28 games, they held no prisoners and even dealt out two doughnuts to the opposition. As we know only a maximum of 16 games are gained when a reserve is called in, I’m sure Oliver Jacques and Blake Rayworth are thinking but what if?
The dates have now been set for the Autumn season which will start after a two week break on the 2nd of May and run until the 11th of July. Current players will be given first preference before players on the waiting list are contacted. In two weeks (11th April) we will have presentations, pizza and refreshments to celebrate the end of the Summer competition.
We welcome additional players to the reserve list and the waiting list for next season. Please get in touch with the Griffith Tennis Club with your name and mobile number for more information: info@griffithtennisclub.com.au
