What’s your name?

            My name is Richard Hayward.

Where are you from?

            I’m from Wimbledon in London.

What are you doing at Aspendale Tennis Club?

I have been the head coach for nearly eleven years.

What are your other hobbies?

When I’m not at tennis, I play golf and I like watching sport especially the Melbourne Demons.

Tell me your best tennis story.

My best tennis memory is when I was younger, me and my friends used to climb over the fence to watch Wimbledon and we never got caught. It was a lot of fun.

Who’s your favorite tennis player and why?

My favorite player is Andy Murray because he had the drive to keep getting better and never gives up. Plus he’s British!

Why should I join Aspendale Tennis Club?

We have really good facilities, we have some excellent coaches, we have a lot of children playing and they are all improving, we have some advanced players and we also cater for beginners that want to have fun.

Give me a secret tip to become a good tennis player.

Whether you're playing competitively or socially, tennis is a game of skill, strategy, and mental toughness. As a coach, my job is to help my players develop these qualities so that they can perform at their best and achieve their goals, whatever they may be. The secret tip to be a good tennis player is to remember to breathe.

Thank you Richard!
