The 2025 Australian Pride in Sport Festival Amazon Women's Tennis Compass Singles was a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and thrilling matches. As a participant, I had the pleasure of experiencing this event firsthand.
Taking place at Parra City Tennis, the tournament brought together new faces and familiar friends. The atmosphere was electric, and everyone was eager to serve-up their best and enjoy the spirit of the game.
With 28 players representing 9 countries, the compass format meant that players of all levels had the opportunity to progress in the event and secure one of the highly sought after rainbow medals.
Even as an Amazon newbie competing in my first singles tournament, I had my eyes on the prize. I faced tough matches against Michelle, Ebru, Anasta and Annie – all skilled opponents with ace serves, brilliant returns and plays that had me running all over the court. I navigated wins and losses throughout the tournament, moving west, south and ultimately secured a spot in the South-West Final. After a hard-fought battle with the formidable Mun, to my own surprise, I was able to clinch the win to take out the South-West Championship.
Throughout the tournament I was lucky enough to catch glimpses of other matches such as the semi-final show downs of Cynthia vs Natsuko and Jamie vs Emily and finals matches between Soojin vs Jing and Pow vs Pauline. The talent and sports(wo)manship on display was truly inspiring.
Overall, the Australian Pride in Sport Festival Amazon Women's Tennis Compass Singles was a smash hit and I can't wait for next year's tournament! Congratulations to all those who took part in this thrilling tournament.
