Amazon Women's Tennis Named Finalist for Tennis NSW Award 2025! 🎾🏆

We are proud to announce that Amazon Women's Tennis was named a finalist for the Most Outstanding Growth Initiative at the Tennis NSW Awards 2025!

This recognition celebrates our incredible journey over the past year. Since incorporating as a not-for-profit organisation in late 2024, we've transformed from hosting casual hits to becoming a thriving tennis club serving the LGBTQIA+ women's community across Sydney.

Our Growth Story

The numbers tell an exciting story of community engagement and growth:

  • 62 financial members and over 150 casual contacts registered through ClubSpark
  • Over 700 registrations across 75+ events since November 2024
  • Facebook community growth from under 500 to over 700 members
  • 74 women attended our Open Day, with many continuing through our follow-up programmes

Our incorporation unlocked partnerships that made this growth possible. Tennis NSW affiliation gave us access to resources, credibility, and the professional ClubSpark platform. The City of Canada Bay Community Development Grant enabled our successful Open Day and outreach programmes. Together, these partnerships helped us create accessible, inclusive tennis opportunities for LGBTQIA+ women of all skill levels.

Building Community Through Tennis

What we're most proud of isn't just the numbers—it's the stories behind them. Women who'd never picked up a racquet are now playing in tournaments. Complete beginners have become medal winners. Players who came alone have found a supportive community.

Our programmes cater to all levels, from coaching workshops and Cardio Tennis to social hits and our Compass Doubles Tournament, where players of all abilities can compete and celebrate their achievements together.

Congratulations to Narromine Tennis Club

Whilst we're celebrating our finalist position, we want to extend our warmest congratulations to Narromine Tennis Club, who took home the award in our category! Their remarkable achievements include membership growth of over 800%, expanding weekly competitions from 0 to 4 nights a week, and creating a thriving, inclusive environment for their community. We're honoured to have been recognised alongside such a deserving winner.

Thank You to Our Community

This nomination belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey—our dedicated volunteers, supportive members, Tennis NSW, and the City of Canada Bay. Your commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming tennis environment has made all of this possible.

The awards night took place in October 2025, and whilst we didn't take home the trophy, being named a finalist validates our mission and motivates us to continue growing and serving our community through tennis.

Here's to the next chapter of Amazon Women's Tennis! 🌈🎾
