The Amazon Women's Tennis Open 2024 marked a significant milestone for our club, and for LGBTQIA+ women’s tennis in Australia.  Held on November 16th-17th, the tournament was our club's first entry into the GLTA World Tour and the first all-women's GLTA event outside of Europe. 

44 women played 59 matches over two action-packed days.  Players of a range of levels showcased their skill and sportsmanship in singles and doubles, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendly competition.

Amazon Women's Tennis is a welcoming community for LGBTQIA+ women and allies to connect and stay physically and mentally active through tennis. We organize social hits, singles and doubles leagues, and tournaments throughout the year.  We aim to develop the confidence of women starting out in tennis, and to provide pathways for those who wish to improve and to participate in competitive tennis events.

Reflecting on the success of the Amazon Women’s Tennis Open 2024, we are excited to contribute to and enrich the LGBTQIA+ tennis landscape for women of all levels.  We hope to bring more women into the GLTA community, leading to larger and more diverse draws, not only at our own tournaments, but at other GLTA tournaments in Australia and around the world.
