Drought breaking P2 premiership for Alcheringa

Assassins Go Down in Thriller

In the P3 semi final Alcheringa Assassins were drawn to play Nichols Pt Diamonds at Nichols Pt.
Late changes were the order of the day, first it was Joe Daniher, and then it was Louise Olofsson.  Fortunately, Mandy filled the breach regardless of her wild night out the night prior. Big thanks to Mandy.

Things started well with Reece arriving at the correct location, although a little late.  Straight onto the court, he and Jeremy ground out an 8-3 win.  At the same time the ladies were battling against an experienced pairing, going down 2-8. This theme continued throughout all the doubles matches, leaving the set score 3-3 before the mixed.

Reece and Laura staged a great fightback after being 5-0 down to force a tie breaker, but unfortunately went down in the end. At the same time Leanne and Jeremy got lucky, knocking off their opposition 8-1, making the set score 4-4 with one mixed to go.

Dave (The Orchid) Walker, and allround sportsperson, Mandy Philips, were drawn to play cricket legend, Geoff John, and tennis legend, Wendy Dickie. Things started disastrously being 3-0 down but in typical ATC style a fightback was on the cards, and again our team fought hard to bring a tie break.  The Orchid was staring.  Wind conditions, temperature, light, court speed and vapour pressure deficit - all perfect conditions for The Orchid. Mandy was providing perfect backup support.

In a great battle, unfortunately, we missed out in another tie break, therefore meaning a loss on sets 5-4, with the irrelevant game score being 52-46 Alcheringa's way.

Thanks for a great year everyone.  Thanks to Paul for support on the day.
